ENG vs NZ, Third Test Live Score: Missed review, dropped catch haunt England

England’s difficult day could have looked very different had a couple of key moments gone their way. Shortly after lunch, Shoaib Bashir struck Devon Conway on the pad when the batter was on 71 and New Zealand were 157 without loss. England chose not to review the decision for lbw, only for television replays to show the ball would have hit the stumps. Later in the innings, wicketkeeper Jamie Smith dropped a straightforward chance when Tom Latham was on 129. Both batters went on to score centuries and added more than 300 runs together. Smith did make amends by taking three catches later in the day, including Latham’s dismissal, but the missed opportunities had already allowed New Zealand to build a massive platform. On a flat batting surface, such moments carried enormous value and England were left to wonder what might have happened had those chances been taken.
